McAllen Fine Art Children Portraits

I just love a beautiful portrait of a young child that allows us to connect with their eyes. Not all photographs of children have to be children surrounded by props or with those huge cute grins they have (although toothless grins are awesome and I love them too!).

Although a smiling child has a way of bringing so much joy to us, it is the deep connection of a serious photograph that is so beautiful to me. No expectations, no thoughts, just a gorgeous image connecting on a deeper level with someone who gazes into the camera. A photograph that is timeless and draws the viewer in to wonder what was going through their mind at the time. A photograph that will mean so much to them when they are adults; a photograph they will show their children one day. It will be a photograph that stands out and will be displayed and treasured for years to come.

I am constantly looking to learn new skills and experience the teachings of amazing photographers who are masters at their craft. I recently attended a workshop held by Paulina Duczman, who is a world renowned and highly recognized fine art children’s photographer based out of the UK. When photographers attend workshops by other photographers, we learn about their color theory, their styling, their posing, their lighting and also their editing. Her work is very recognizable and photographers who have taken her classes take what they learn from her and develop their own style and look.

I was so thankful to be able to take her class which was held in San Antonio, Texas in March 2020. Usually her classes are held in New York, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai so finding out that she had a class scheduled only 3 hours away was a dream come true. We spent the day learning and photographing these two marvelous and sweet girls who were so patient with all of us as we practiced what we had learned.

I am so happy that I have connected with both girls and their families on Instagram and that they are now part of my portfolio.
